Chamber Jam @ The Ellington is a night of chamber music in Perth like no other. Join some of Australia’s leading musicians in three outstanding ensembles performing in one of Perth’s most intimate live music venues. June’s Chamber Jam was a sensational, saxxy affair with Tim Newhouse Collective and Five Sax Orchestra and July promises to be ab equal treat. Guitar and piano duets are a rare beast but in the hands of mimi duo (Duncan Gardiner – guitar and Setsu Masuda – piano), the result is breathtaking and beautiful. Gardiner and Masuda each bring their own specialities to create a magical blend of music including exotic impressions from Japan and Spain, to intricate works of Bach, sweet sorbets of Schubert, passionate tangos and heartfelt originals. mimi duo has captivated Perth audiences since their inception in 2012 and is establishing a lasting musical collaboration through their many concert engagements across the state.

The nationally-renown pianist, Jonathan Bradley, joins Caitlin Huxtable, a violin student of Emeritus Professor Paul Wright, in recital. Caitlin is a talented WAAPA-trained violinist based in Perth, and for Chamber Jam will perform Schubert’s beautiful Duo Sonata with Jonathan on the grand piano, and will be joined by fellow violinist, Madeleine Antoine for a movement or two of the sublime Double Concerto for two violins by Bach known as the “Bach Double”.

Mix’t has performed everything from Richard Rodney Bennett, John Williams and Jacques Ibert to Chick Corea, Charlie Parker and George Gerswhin, at International Festivals, National Conferences and for Heads of State giving exciting and fresh interpretations of works. Specialising in cross-genre works, the trio has delighted audiences with their versatility and flair. Between them, these diverse players are able to cross seamlessly in and out of the classical, popular and jazz idioms, taking the audience on a fascinating musical journey.
