North Street Music is passionate about developing musicians with a view to them successfully forging a career in the music industry. North Street Music offers business skills courses and one on one development sessions for artists and bands.
Artist Development Sessions
Individual musicians (or bands) can get tailored advice to assist you in achieving your goals. Whether you want to grow your fan base, secure more work, produce a new show or performance, or simply generate more money from what you love, then you need some clear plans, strategies and tasks. Sessions typically last an hour and there is always plenty of homework to do – if you’re serious about achieving your goals.

Sessions need to be booked at least a week in advance and take place in the North Street Music office in Fremantle.
Individual Sessions: $100
Band Sessions: $200
Recurring Sessions: $80 per session (for musicians wanting ongoing advice and support, with sessions a minimum of every three months.
Business Skills Courses
‘Business Skills for Musicians’ is a course designed to assist people in the music industry gain some fundamental skills to help them get where they want to go. Courses are run based on demand, and once there are enough people interested, a course is scheduled at a convenient time. The courses require a minimum of six participants to run, up to a maximum of 12.

What will you learn:
The course covers several key topics including marketing, promotion, business management, networking; accounting and other financial areas such as budgeting, quoting and invoicing; management; developing a fan base and keeping it!; using the internet; and an introduction to law, licensing and copyright.
The course is run over one day – usually a Sunday, from 10am to 5pm with all food and refreshments provided.
Bourby Webster, Director of North Street Music, teaches business skills to final year students (contemporary, classical, jazz, opera, production and composition students) at WAAPA (WA Academy of Performing Arts). She also consults one-on-one to artists, ensembles and bands in both Australia and the UK and is a sought after lecturer and presenter. The feedback has shown that more than ever, musicians are crying out to learn skills to support their talent, helping them market, promote, develop and sell their music and themselves.

Course Location: Scotch College, Swanbourne.
Course Times: 10am to 5pm.
Included: Course notes, hand-outs, morning and afternoon tea plus lunch.
Fee: $250 per person. Discounts are available for members of a band attending together.
