Bourby Webster, Director of North Street Music, has lectured Professional Management Skills to musicians at the WA Academy of Music in Perth (WAAPA), Western Australia, since 2008. A fraction of the feedback she has received since commencing teaching is highlighted here…
I would like to express how much i enjoyed professional management this year, I was really taken by your passion and frankly disturbed by your freaky organisational skills lol.
The unit and yourself really challenged me to think in ways that I have never really been encouraged to do previously, and it made me realise that music isn’t just about sonorities and to think that it is would be potentially harmful to my dreams.
i’m emailing just 2 let u know [email protected] i found the classes (P.M.S.) this past semester, to use the french expression “FN Brilliant!”…i’m not the type to kiss-ass but i’ve found it invaluable hey..
…this whole process has been one of the most beneficial things I’ve ever done – didn’t realise HOW important it was.
Just wanted to say thank-you so much for your reply;) there was so much constructive feedback in there that I can definitely use! So extremely helpful;) A huge thanx again!
Spoke to a few of the guys in my course today and we all agreed that the lecture today was a lot of fun and very useful. Just thought I’d let you know so that you know whatever it is you’re doing is great! :o)

Guess what!!! Because of your class I had the balls to walk up to Jessica Mauboy in Sydney today and am now potentially going to hang out with her as she’s staying at the same hotel as me and was interested that I was a singer 🙂 🙂
I sat your music business class this week and I’m just writing to show you my appreciation.

I just wanted to say that your course was bloody brilliant, I have learnt so much in the past couple of days/hours! I’m not only going to apply those skills to my music but life in general. I wanted to thank you for being so openly passionate about teaching the skills, it is so very refreshing to listen to someone who genuinely wants to pass on her learning to students. (if that makes sence he he.)

Thank You for changing my life! This week i’ve been 200% more proactive & have already made so many more contacts than i would have in the past 8 months so thank you for sharing your experience with me. You are amazing & inspiring & it looks so natural to you.
Thank you for all your advice and help so far, it’s amazing how much I have retained and put into practice from your lessons! Once applied, they truly make sense.
My name is Hayley Ayres. I was in your PMS class this year … and just thought I’d introduce myself to you properly. I majored in Composition and I learnt a lot at WAAPA but your class taught me some of the most valuable lessons I’ve drawn from my entire degree.
